Telephone poles and freight cars

The end of the train had a standard-height freight car, so although the classic rear view of the tracks was blocked, there was quite a bit of clearance above the car from the upper level of the Superliner passenger cars.

For a while we ran with telephone poles next to the tracks on both sides, which would intrude into any photo taken out the sides of the train. Here the poles are in good condition, but there were lots of fallen poles along the line. Evidently it's not economically worthwhile to raise fallen poles so long as the line is unbroken, given the population density of the area.
